How to Use a Blog for Your Church Website Using Wordpress

Blogging Websites with WordPress

Church Websites WordPressAt Christian WebMedia, we build custom Church websites that use  content management systems (CMS) like WordPress. These types of  church website designs are now in fashion more than ever because of the benefits they offer churches and church plants. Church and ministry web sites that have WordPress blogging software attract much more traffic than static sites because of RSS feeds and the fact that they are generally search engine optimized out of the box.  Add to that professional services of Christian website designers  and  local church SEO experts like the kind of folks we have at Christian WebMedia, and you will get a Christian church website ranking high up in the search engines for your church’s important local key phrases. This kind of ranking is most important for any who take church social media marketing seriously.

Additionally, these types of church websites built on a content management system (CMS) like WordPress are  far more interactive than traditional church websites without blogging capability.

I know this about blogging websites from my own awesome experience at Oasis-Church-NJ.com, where we have attracted over 600 people in the last year and a half solely from the internet.

I am so glad I not only have blogging websites, but also that I use WordPress for them. In fact, we designed this website you are reading right now using WordPress blogging tools. :)

A Web Host for Your Blog

Blogs and blog/web hosting for blogs are becoming more and more popular. It seems these days that everybody has a blog whether it is for a small business, an online business, or for personal interest. If you want your blog to be top notch, then the bloghosting that you use will play a major role in how good your blog will be. Good bloghosting will always keep your site online, and will come with features and utilities to make your blog setup easy and smooth.

Blog hosting companies know what your needs are as a blogger. They offer many features that are made just to help your blog. They have many templates to chose from, and you don’t need to know anything about html, or css to set up the blog. With good blog hosting, the only thing you need to worry about is blogging.

However, if you opt with regular webhosting, there are some good choices out there too. Many web hosting companies provide blog scripts which allow you to make a blog very easily. WordPress is an example of a blog script. Also, you can customize templates, and even add plugin tools to make your blog more personal.

Now the question is: How do you decide which web/blog hotsing is the best one for your blog? Well, we have made a list of things to consider when shopping for hosting for your blog. All blogs have different needs and all hosting services offer different features and allow certain things.

  • The amount of traffic that your blog will get, and the disk space that your blog will require.
  • Do you want your blog to have video or audio content, or do you just want text content?
  • The service and reliability of the webhosting company. This is probably the most important thing because if the service is unreliable, then your blog won’t be online all the time, and your traffic will go down. Make sure that you research the reliability of your webhosting company of choice.

After you consider all of these things, you will be ready to purchase the hosting for your blog!

How to Start a Website

Many people have been asking me how to start a website like I have. To be honest, to start a web site is not rocket science. If a technological idiot (when I first began) like me can do it, and make decent money online, so can you! Let’s face it, nowadays your business needs a website to succeed. The following tips will show you how to start a successful website.

Start a Website Guide

1. The very first thing that you need to do is to chose a domain name for your website. Make sure that your domain name describes your website accurately. For example if your website that sells and reviews guitars, then chose a domain name like “guitar-master-reviews.com” Try to make it a catchy and memorable name, but most importantly make sure that it is a name that people search. You can use a tool such as Ad Word Analyzer to find out how often people search for keywords in your desired domain name. If it is searched for a lot, then it is a good choice to use that name.

2. The second thing that you have to do is to find reliable web hosting for your site. There are many different web hosting companies that you can chose from such as HostGator and Bluehost and it is best if you research different ones to see which one best meets your websites needs. It is a good idea to read some customer reviews for the hosting that you are interested in. Free web hosting companies suck and are not worth your time especially if you are using your website to make money. These free web hosting companies don’t have good uptime which means that your site will not always be online. This means less traffic and less money. They also will put a whole bunch of advertisements on your pages which will distract people from your content.

3. You need to download some kind of blog script. If you do not know any HTML code, then I highly recommend using WordPress. You do not need to know any HTML to use wordpress. It works very well with BlueHost also.

4. Make sure that your website has lots of content. This is the most important part of any website. Remember to make your content rich with keywords and tags. This will keep people interested in your site, and will also help people to find pages on your site easy to search for.

5. Traffic is hard to get. The best way to achieve getting traffic is by writing articles on your topic, linking to your website in the resource box and submitting them to article directories to get back links. However, traffic is very hard to get with all the websites that exist. You may want to read our article on getting traffic through search engines.

As you can see it really is not that hard to start a website. Anybody can start one and if you follow these steps then your website will be a success.
