What exactly is the Spam Assassin and Box Trapper?

Spam Assassin : “is an automated mail filter that uses a wide range of heuristic algorithms on mail headers and message body text to identify “SPAM” (unsolicited email). Once identified, the mail is tagged as SPAM for later filtering using the user’s desktop mail client. All spam mail goes to spam box, and you still can check those mail if you like, or delete it with single click of a button.“

Boxtrapper : “protects your inbox from spam by forcing all people not on your white list to reply to a verifcation email before they can send mail to you. You can create your white list and add your contacts to this list. Also create a black list and add all spammer email to this address.”

You can access both of these easy to use tools by going into your HostMonster cPanel, and clicking on your mail icon. From here you can activate either of these useful tools.

If you choose Host Monster web hosting, you will be able to select from two different Host Monster webmail programs: Squirrel Mail or Horde, which you can log into through your Host Monster Cpanel>Webmail. Here you can compose email or check on received mail. If you don’t desire to go through Hostmonster cPanel you can access your mail directl. If you don’t wish to go this route, you can enter your Host Monster email account in your browser through http://your-domain.com/webmail/. There is a way to synchronize your webmail using Outlook Express, but I will save that for a future article.

How to Set Up Host Monster Email Accounts

Email set up with Host Monster is a snap. You just go Cpanel> Mail>Create or Add/Remove Manage Account>Add Accounts (located at bottom og page). It is here that you pick a name and password for your Host Monster email account.
